Senior Scientist - Polymers
Do you have the ability to conduct
research and perform advanced work with polymers that will deliver new
technologies to aid in the design, development, and manufacturing of new
Velcro Group Corporation is currently seeking a Senior Scientist –
Polymers in Manchester, NH. This position will be involved in providing
subject matter expertise to internal/external customers and/or suppliers
to support the growth of the Velcro Industries.
Major responsibilities include communicating and coordinating directly with senior technical representatives of suppliers or customers regarding specific technical issues. The Senior Scientist – Polymers will be expected to reach agreement on areas of technical focus as prudent for product development and process advancement while serving as primary contact on product capabilities and future efforts. He or she will investigate, identify, document, and evaluate customers’ functional requirements. By using the appropriate framework of procedures and techniques, this position will manage, motivate, and lead cross functional teams for multiple strategic development projects. One goal will be to develop functional prototypes of new designs for evaluation and demonstration to both internal and external customers.
Other areas of focus will be following the Intellectual Property (IP) process to file invention disclosures for potentially patentable products/ideas; consulting with, providing guidance to, and mentoring multiple development, manufacturing, and supply chain teams; completing product life cycle processes of design, validation, analysis, and trials by utilizing appropriate tools and equipment.
The successful candidate must have the following:
PhD in Polymer Science or Chemistry
Plastics Industry experience (i.e., thermoplastic extrusion) – minimum 5 years
Experience in Phase Gate Product Development process
Proven key skill sets of leadership, strategic planning, communication, presentation and collaboration, ability to work independently, creativity and open-mindedness, MS office suite
Capability to handle multiple projects and task simultaneously
Desired: Experience in a technical discipline (Extrusion, Injection Molding, Textiles, Non-Woven, Adhesive, or Coating)
