August can be one of the hottest month’s of the year (if we’re lucky!) so it’s important not to keep your eye on the ball in the garden this month.

What to do in the garden this month
Deadhead flowering plants regularly
While your flowers are in bloom during the summer months, it’s essential to prune the deadheads regularly to encourage new growth.
Stay on top of watering
As potentially one of the hottest months of the year, it’s important to water your garden plants regularly during periods of high temperatures and low rainfall.
Harvest Onions & Garlic
Mid-summer is garlic and onion harvesting time. When the bottom leaves of garlic start to yellow pull the plant. Braid soft neck garlic varieties while the leaves are still supple.
When onion tops start to flop over harvest the bulbs. Bundle garlic braids and groups of onion bulbs with VELCRO® Brand Plant Ties and hang them in a dark, airy location to dry.
Dry Herbs

Make Summer Flower Bouquets
